Dear Alliance Family,
I know that many of you have been wondering how best to utilize your health benefits during this time of public health crisis.
First, our plan is currently being amended to make sure that tests for COVID-19 ordered by a physician will be covered in full by the Alliance Health Plan, with zero out-of-pocket cost to you. While a majority of test locations are providing the test for free through the CDC or state health departments, this change will ensure that a plan participant won’t have to worry about incurring a cost should they need to have their test done by a private lab or doctor’s office.
Secondly, we are talking with our pharmacy benefit manager, Express Scripts, about how we can be flexible with refill limitations for those of you taking maintenance medications. We know that some regular medications are required to be filled more frequently, and that could be difficult during a time of quarantine.
Finally, I want to encourage all of you to utilize our wonderful telemedicine provider, First Stop Health, in the exact way that their name implies – as the first stop! If you are feeling ill, showing symptoms of any kind of sickness, or just have questions or need advice for yourself or your family members, please give them a call. You can talk with physicians for free (there is only a small fee if they write you a prescription), and they are equipped to advise you when a visit to your local doctor is needed.
As always, Alliance Benefits is here to serve you and answer any questions you may have about your health plan coverage. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Stay safe everyone!
