Billing

Q:  How do you bill for health premiums?

Billing for health premiums is processed by Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) or sometimes referred to as ACH (Automated Clearing House) transaction. On the 3rd business day of each month we draw the funds directly from your checking account.

Q:  Will we get an invoice showing the charges?

Yes. We email invoices to the designated authorized person from your church. The invoice gives a summary of the charges for the month and the total amount we will draw from your account. It also breaks down the individual charges for each employee.

Q:  Why does my statement show that you double-billed us?

Please rest assured that we make every effort to bill accurately and never withdraw more than the funds actually due. That said, the way the information appears on a statement may be confusing:

  • If the amount shown in "Statement Total" and "ACH Amount Draw" are different, the "ACH Amount" will be the actual amount withdrawn from your bank account
  • Amounts shown in parentheses represent a credit balance

For example:

  • You enroll an employee to begin February 1, but we receive the enrollment January 25 (too late for February billing)
  • Since premiums are due at the beginning of the billed month, we do a special ACH a few days later, and withdraw the February premium
  • Technically, February hasn't been "billed" in our database and you have not yet received a statement
  • In March we will bill you for both Febrary and March premiums
  • Since we have already collected February premium, the statement will show a "credit" but we will only draw March premium in March

Here is what the March statement would look like:

Statement Total:          $628

Previous Balance:       ($314)

ACH Amount Draw:      $314

Q:  Why does my January statement show a premium increase?

As with most insurance plans, you will typically see a premium increase every January. We are thankful that C&MA Health Plan increases over the last 5 years have been far lower that what you will see in most other plans.

Every November, we notify church treasurers of next year's rates via two e-mails. It is vital you notify us if your treasurer's e-mail changes.

Q:  Why does my statement show a Life Insurance premium change?

  • If the employee or spouse had a 5th year birthday (age 40, 45, etc), Voluntary Life premiums will increase
  • If the employee truned age 65 or 70, Basic Life insurance will reduce in coverage amount and the premium will also reduce
  • If your employee's spouse turned age 70, Voluntary Life ends, so no premium would be charged
